Introduction

I had been exploring the thrills of a male chastity cage for a short while when I discovered with dismay that, given enough lubrication, pulling out the back of the device was fairly easy. It happened to me accidentally the first time as I was performing my ablutions while locked in a CB6000. Shower-induced extra shrinkage, allied with pushing a soapy finger into the back of the tube in an attempt to clean things up in there, caused my wily organ to pop out the back! Sure, my scrotum was still stuck fast betwixt the rings, so the device was not going anywhere, but my would-be captive shaft was now flopping free above its defeated prison.
Mind you, that made cleanup a breeze. Returning the rinsed shaft to the confines of the cage was easy too, helped by the application of abundant water flow. But for me, that cast a pall on the whole head game, as if I had been enjoying some bondage and suddenly discovered that the bindings were no sturdier than paper tape.

If you read a bit about serious chastity on the web, you'll soon find out that the almost universally recommended approach to definite pullout prevention is a piercing (typically called a "PA" for "Prince Albert"). There are some other approaches that strive to achieve the same goal by squeezing/clamping the shaft one way or another within the cage but when not merely gimmicky, they typically involve lasting discomfort, sharp pain, or even potential trauma (e.g. as a consequence of urethra compression). There are also approaches that do not prevent pullout but instead provide the key holder with undeniable evidence of any such incident (e.g. the so-called "ribbon" method).

Well, piercings are not my thing, at all. Discomfort gets in the way of long term wear during normal life (driving, working, sleeping, etc), and sharp pain is not part of my kink, to say nothing of trauma. The tamper-evident approaches are also unappealing to me: I am more into the head game of "can't" than "would get caught if I did" (the bondage analogy above is fitting here too). Another issue is that most of these techniques work best on men who are circumcised and/or "showers" (as opposed to "growers" like me whose shaft varies greatly in size between flaccid and erect and can sometimes turtle-in to an amazing extent, leading to accidental escapes).

Ah, but I am an engineer by trade, so such a challenge has got to have a technological solution...

Eventually, I came across an interesting, novel concept, dubbed a "TetherSpout" by its inventor (Tether Products). It leverages the little-known fact that inside the tip of the penis, there is a ring of inelastic tissue around the urethra, roughly halfway between the meatus (a.k.a. slit) and the frenulum (bottom rear of the glans). The "TetherSpout" is composed of:
  • The "spout", which is a hollow pin with a flange at one end and a slight taper at the other end (the inside bore has a constant diameter). There are also two cross holes at the taper end that come in handy later...
  • The "retainer", which is a kind of washer with smoothly rounded edges that is made to very precise dimensions.
The spout and retainer are made of stainless steel. There is also a vinyl cap that can be used to close up the spout if need be:

The spout is inserted flange first, followed by the retainer, pushing the latter in sideways (as a button though a buttonhole). Finally, the spout is pulled back through the retainer. At that point, the retainer comes to rest flat against the above-mentioned inelastic part of the urethra. Provided the proper size retainer has been selected, it can no longer be pulled out (again, like a button over a buttonhole).



And here is a picture of the whole thing assembled, along with a stainless steel wire I shaped to hook through the TetherSpout and lock it onto my Male Chastity Now "Contender" cage (fleshy bits removed for... ahem... better clarity):


How secure is it? Well, barring just cutting the stainless steel lock wire (but if we are considering that, why not get a slightly bigger cutter and just slice through the padlock shackle), retracting the penis is no more possible than if I was locked in by a hook though a piercing.

    1. I've worn the Contender assembly in the photo for a continuous stretch of two weeks once. I have done multiple 1-week periods in it too. It is rare that the cage stays continuously on for longer than that these days, regardless of the ThetherSpout.
      One thing that I'll address in a future post: the inside of the spout has mill marks that I have smoothed and polished away...

      I think one advantage this tethering approach has over piercings is that there is no waiting for healing and widening. That applies to real life but may also be of particular interest in reluctant fiction scenarios

    For the rest (hooks, polishing), at the moment, it is a Do It Yourself endeavor... I am still experimenting with variations on the theme and would encourage others to do the same.
    I am contemplating helping a small number of enthusiasts in getting started by providing them polished spouts and customized hooking wires, but doing so will require some commitment to the "cause" and further interactions. This is not, on my part, a commercial enterprise.

  4. I am very interested in this. I am currently locked up for a 5 month stretch, lol, with 3 months to go. Curious about long term use!

    1. The longest I have worn my Contender with TetherSpout and hook continuously was 2 weeks, and I had no problem whatsoever. Most of the time, I am locked at most 5-7 days in a row, for lifestyle reasons that have no relation to my use of the spouts, so I can't really be definitive beyond that...

  5. How do I make the hook? Can a small padlock fit through? Also some metal chastity belts have a catheter option. Do you think it could fit through the hole? Also was it hard measure for correct size? I am very interested in this amazing idea. Thanks

  6. Making those hooks is a bit of an art (you can see some other designs on my "Hooking up" blog post). I use a mini-bender I bought on Amazon, as well as small pliers and a small vise. It still takes me hours to make one, but then they are different prototypes each time. Once I get used to producing a particular design, it'll go faster and I might be able to supply them to people who can't make their own (I'm not there yet)...
    In the meantime, I recommend trying your hand at forming 14 gauge electrical wire (copper). That material can be worked with just pliers, and a copper hook can be worn for 48h with no ill effect.
    Also, note that the Spout need to be polished inside (see "Polishing the shaft").

    The small (crappy) "wolfdog" padlocks that come with Chinese CB knock-offs do fit through the TetherSpout cross holes, but the Abus or Master brand ones are just a tad too big.

  7. Have you considered using a numbered plastic tag to seal the spout onto the cage, rather than the complication of the shaped wire? Why does the spout need to be polished inside?

  8. Using a numbered plastic lock is certainly doable when using a cage with bars such as the ones from MatureMetal or MaleChastityNow. In fact, here is an account from a practitioner of that approach: https://fetlife.com/users/1760898/posts/3427148.
    On the other hand, the numbered plastic locks are not practical on the mainstream plastic devices such as the CB6000 or the HolyTrainer.

    Regarding the "complication of the shaped wire":
    I feel that except for the initial issue of having the wire manufactured, that approach is far superior to the plastic locks: everything locks with one key/security-screw and there is no need to keep track of tag numbers (which can quickly become a chore when releases are frequent).
    Indeed, making the wire can be challenging, and I am currently considering ways to help people who want such wires but do not have the tools/skills required to shape them on their own...

    Regarding bore polishing:
    The mill marks inside the spouts promote corrosion (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crevice_corrosion and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitting_corrosion). If you wear a spout that hasn't been polished for a couple of days and, after removing it, pull a Q tip through it, you'll immediately see the issue: brown/black deposit of corroded metal. Once the spout's inside is polished to a mirror finish, as I explain in my "polishing the shaft" post, such corrosion is prevented.
    Corroded surfaces inside the spout, although they are not in contact with tissue, are to be avoided as they provide breeding ground for bacteria. Also, prolonged corrosion can lead to small pieces of the metal surface detaching, and you don't want that possibly sloshing around in your urethra!

  9. Be aware that some people have found that they cannot get the Tetherspout out far enough to hook to the outside of the cage. There are several people working on solutions to the attachment problem. Check the Tetherspout Users group on Fetlife.com

    Barring this problem, there is one solution to attaching the Tetherspout that is a bit more elegant than the wire method, though right now it is a bit expensive until someone else makes one less expensive...there is a Locking Piercing Ring with partial sizing reduction that allows it to pass through the holes in the Tetherspout : https://www.traeume-aus-edelstahl.de/english/toys-piercings/piercingring-lockable/

  10. Ingenious device, would it work long term? I experienced the same disappointment on discovering pullout, resigned myself to getting pierced. C/wouldn't tackle a PA personally, no experience so opted for frenum piercing, easy to do oneself, surprisingly not painful, slightly uncomfortable (due in part to my choice of lock which secures the device) occasionally for a week or two then forget about it (but not keeping it clean!) If you opt for this approach make sure that the piercing doesn't become load bearing, wouldn't recommend that with a frenum piercing. Great article thanks.
